FarmVille has lost the crown of being the most popular app on Facebook. An application called Phrases has ended FarmVille's long domination on Facebook's top application charts.
Developed by Takeoff Monkey, Phrases enables people to post sayings, images and quizzes from a variety of pre-generated topics on their newsfeed.
Presently, The 'do-it-yourself quiz and trivia application' Phrases is on top with 54.4 million monthly active users. It is followed by FarmVille which has 53.9 million monthly active users.
FarmVille reportedly grabbed the top spot on Facebook in August 2009 and has held onto it ever since, peaking with 84 million monthly active users in Fabruary 2010.
However, despite its dwindling numbers Farmville may soon be back at top spot, as Phrases developer Takeoff Monkey recently disabled the app for US users. This has resulted in Phrases' "daily active user count is dropping fast," according to Gamasutra, which noted that the app is in danger of falling even further back than second place if US audience remain locked out.
