How to remove hair colour from skin

While many women can't do without colouring their hair, there may be times when those annoying stains stay behind on your skin. And washing your skin with soap and water may not be the solution you're looking for.

- Tying a long strip of fabric around your head covering the forehead and ears will help. Once this is done, use a bit of body lotion on the area where the hair meets the skin. This will prevent staining.

- If the dye isn't very strong, applying some warm water and detergent can do the trick.

- Baby oil is an amazing tool. Rub some on the stains and leave it on overnight. Wash off the following day.

- Your toothpaste can also be helpful. Take a small amount on your finger and rub it on the stains. Since toothpaste is slightly abrasive it will remove stains without being harsh on sensitive skin.

- Nail polish remover can be useful to remove hair dye stains but it should be used in small areas and at a good distance from the eyes. Soak cotton wool in nail polish remover and rub the area a couple of times, but don't over do it.

- A combination of baking soda and dishwashing liquid could be your answer. Mix equal parts baking soda and liquid together and you have a formula to get rid of the most stubborn stains.

- Petroleum jelly is another lifesaver. Dab a bit on the stain and leave it on for a night. Even rubbing a little on the skin before applying the colour to your hair will help prevent staining.

- If all else fails, just head to the store or even your local salon and buy professional hair dye remover.

  1. Thanks for posting this article. I used to use waxes and creams but looks like it doesn't work for me. I recently tried laser hair removal and so far it works great for me. Thanks for the heads up, this is a helpful article
